3. Use of cookies

Whtif.eue uses cookies. Accepting cookies is not a prerequisite for being able to visit Whtif.eu, but the online store only offers limited functionality if you do not allow the use of cookies.

3.1 What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on the visitor’s computer and make it possible to follow what the visitor does on the website. There are two main types of cookies:

Temporary cookies (session cookies), which are stored in the computer’s memory while a visitor is on a web page. These cookies disappear automatically when the browser is closed.
Permanent cookies (persistent cookies), which remain on the visitor’s computer for a longer or indefinite period of time (lifespan as a rule between 1 month and up to 10 years).

3.2 Use of own cookies

Whtif.eu uses both temporary and permanent cookies.

Temporary cookies are used to keep track of which items have been added to the shopping cart, manage the payment process, ensure that visitors who have logged in to the website do not have to log in to each new page they visit, improve the website for the visitor e.g. by adapting the website to the visitor’s wishes, choices and interests, be able to adapt our services so that you receive advertising that is relevant to you and others.

Permanent cookies are used, among other things, to store your possible personal settings at Whtif.eu so that, for example, you do not have to redo certain choices every time you visit Whtif.eu and to adapt and make information and marketing as relevant as possible to you. Permanent cookies are also used in order to be able to register statistics on the use of Whtif.eu. These cookies (lifetime between 1 month and up to 10 years) are saved on your computer and are automatically deleted when the set time is reached.

In the cookies Whtif.eu uses, only anonymized data is saved. When these cookies are activated, they are assigned an identification number. A coordination with your personal data to this identification number does not take place. Your name, your IP address or similar information that enables a direct coordination between you and this cookie is not saved in it. Based on the cookie technology, we only receive anonymized information, for example about which pages in our online store have been visited, which products have been viewed, etc.

3.3 Use of third-party cookies for marketing purposes

Whtif.eu cooperates with some partners who contribute to making our online store and our offers more interesting for you. Therefore, third-party cookies from partner companies are also saved on your computer when you visit our online store. This concerns both temporary and temporary cookies, which are automatically deleted when the set time has expired (lifetime 14 days to 10 years). Our partner companies’ cookies also contain only anonymized information. This is, for example, information about which pages and products you have looked at, searched for, purchased, etc. In this context, some of our advertising partners also register information about which pages you have visited and which products you have been interested in. The purpose is to be able to show you products and offers that best match your interests.

3.3.1 On-site marketing

Based on cookie technology, information is collected on Whtif.eu to optimize our offers. This data is not used to identify you personally, but is simply for a pseudonymised evaluation of the use of the online store. With this technology, we can present products, services and/or offers that should be relevant and interesting to you. The content is based on the information obtained in connection with the click analysis (for example, recommendations that are focused on the fact that people have looked at fire extinguishers in the last few days). Our goal is to make our offers as attractive as possible to you and to present products that match your interests.

3.3.2 Off-site marketing / Retargeting

Whtif.eu may use so-called retargeting technology. This technology makes it possible to appeal to users who have already shown interest in our products with advertising on our partners’ websites. We are convinced that the display of personalized, interest-based advertising is usually more interesting to the Internet user than the usual advertising, which lacks such a personal relationship. Display of these advertising materials on our partners’ pages is based on cookie technology and an analysis of previous user behavior. This type of advertising is completely pseudonymised. When using our site, cookies are used. Information about your use is thereby collected, saved and used. In addition, your data is saved in cookies even after the end of the browser session and can then, for example, be called up again the next time you visit the web pages.

3.4 How can you prevent cookies from being saved?

You can set your browser so that the storage of cookies is only accepted when you consent and thus with future effect prevent cookies from being saved on your computer. If you only want to accept cookies from Whtif.eu, but not those from our suppliers and partners, you can change the setting in your browser to “Block cookies from third parties”. As a rule, via the help function in your browser’s menu, you can see how to reject new cookies and delete ones you have already received.

4. Log files

With each access to Whtif.eu web pages, user data will be transmitted by the respective browser and stored in log files on our web servers (“the server log files”). The data records saved in this context contain the following information: Date and time of access, name of called page, IP address, referring URL (origin URL, from which you have reached the web pages), the amount of data transferred, as well as product and version information about the browser used.

These data records are evaluated by us in order to further increase the user-friendliness, find and fix errors faster and control the capacities of our servers and improve our offers on Whtif.eu. At the same time, we use the log files as a defense against attacks against Whtif.eu, e.g. in the context of so-called DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks, which aim to block access to Whtif.eu through an overload of requests.

5. Web Analysis

In order to constantly improve and optimize our offer, we use so-called tracking technology. For this purpose, we use services from Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (www.google.com). Google Analytics uses methods that enable an analysis of use of the website. For this purpose, Google Analytics uses its own cookies (see point 3), which are stored on the visitor’s computer. Information about the visitor’s use of Whtif.eu is usually transferred to one of Google’s servers in the USA and stored there. By activating IP anonymization on this website, however, the IP address will first be shortened before transmission within the member states of the European Union or in other countries within the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a server in the USA belonging to Google to be shortened there. The IP address transmitted via your browser within the scope of Google Analytics is not combined with other data saved by Google.

You can prevent the recording of the data about your use of the website, which is created by cookies (incl. your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the plugin Google Analytics Opt-Out (click the link to download the plugin). Alternatively to the plug-in in the browser, you can click on this link to prevent registration through Google Analytics on this website. In doing so, an opt-out cookie is saved on your computer, tablet or mobile phone. If you delete your cookies, you must click this link again.

Secure data transfer

All communication between your computer and our systems, for example information about your personal data or your orders, takes place through a secure connection with encryption. We use the encryption system TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

In addition, we secure our systems with technical and organizational measures against loss, destruction, access, alteration or distribution of your data by unauthorized persons.

Personal data assistants

Personal data assistants are companies that help us fulfill our services for you as a customer, among other things

  • Transport company (logistics company)
  • Payment solutions (payment service providers)
  • IT services (companies that manage operations, technical support of our IT solutions)
  • Marketing solutions (for example newsletters)

When your data is shared with personal data assistants, it only happens for purposes that are compatible with the purposes for which we collected the information (e.g. to be able to fulfill commitments according to purchase agreements).

Please note that we never and under no circumstances sell address information to third parties.

This data protection and privacy policy applies from october 1, 2023.
