The focus was clear: How to handle batteries on the way to recycling.
Batteries are one of the leading causes of fires at waste and recycling facilities, and thousands are incorrectly disposed of every day. At the same time, risks also arise at home – not just in the waste stream.
With more and increasingly powerful batteries in circulation, traditional solutions may no longer be sufficient.
From insight to action
The goal of the conversation was to raise awareness around battery safety and highlight simple measures that actually make a difference:
- Tape and cover both terminals on the battery with clear tape.
- Organise your batteries in a vented and fireproof container.
- Recycle your batteries at the nearest return point.
- The Battery Box was highlighted as a practical solution that makes it easier to do the right thing.
